Rachel Johnston is a Scottish artist practicing in the Central Belt area and who is currently studying at UHI Perth. She primarily explores themes of her own identity/past as well as the natural wildlife and people around her.

In her artistic practice Johnston mainly creates sculptural installations which focus on using found materials such as cardboard and clay. However, recently she has been developing her digital skills in video editing and animation. 
 

Johnston is fond of creating 3D installations as she believes it allows for more viewer engagement as well as demonstrates the overlap between her imagination and reality. This differs with her 2D animations as Johnston focuses more on evoking an emotional response among the viewers. 

She has primarily exhibited her artwork within the Forth Valley College campus and has been displayed in the colleges “End of Year Art Show” for the last three years. Out with the college she has been displayed in the Weigh Ahead Exhibition 2024 which was held in Dunblane.
